ASMBS – New Research on: Lap Bands in Adolescents and Improvement in Women’s Sex Lives After Bariatric Surgery

by gloria on June 27, 2010

This past week was the 27th annual meeting of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS).  I always like to follow what’s new, including the latest research related to weight loss surgery and gastric banding.  Two topics really caught my interest, so I decided to pass the information along on my blog:

  1. The first article is a research study about gastric banding in adolescents.  In this study “Three-fourths of obese children and adolescents lost more than 60% of excess weight after laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, which had fewer complications than seen in adults, data from a large cohort study showed.”  To read more about this study,  click here
  2. The second study reveals something, that I’m guessing most of you already knew…women’s sex lives get better after bariatric surgery.  To read more about this study, click here

I hope you find this information useful.  You can also find more at the ASMBS website by clicking here .
